Pennsylvania officials are currently investigating up to 2,500 potentially fraudulent voter registration applications in Lancaster County that were flagged by election workers during routine reviews. The forms, completed by paid canvassers as part of a large-scale operation dating back to June, contained inaccurate information, mismatched signatures, and suspiciously similar handwriting. Similar fraudulent applications may have been submitted in other counties as well.
District Attorney Heather Adams confirmed violations of the crimes and elections codes and stated that all available detectives are working on the investigation. At least 60% of the reviewed applications have been deemed fraudulent. Law enforcement has reached out to voters listed on the forms for verification.
Chair of the county’s Board of Elections, Ray D’Agostino, assured that legitimate applications will not be turned away and are being processed after thorough review. The fraudulent forms were dropped off near the voter registration deadline of October 21, in the key battleground state of Pennsylvania.
This incident is not uncommon, as in Michigan, paid canvassers previously forged nominating petitions resulting in five Republican candidates being disqualified from running for governor in 2022. The investigation in Lancaster County continues to ensure the integrity of the election process and protect the rights of eligible voters.
