Governor Kim Reynolds has announced the addition of three more Iowa counties, including two in Siouxland, to the FEMA Individual Assistance Program. These counties were approved for the program due to severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds, and tornadoes that occurred on June 16, 2024, and continuing. Dickinson County, Palo Alto County, and Humboldt County have been added to the list, with Dickinson County residents also eligible for the Iowa Recovery Temporary Housing Program.
The Individual Assistance Program has already been accepted for nine other counties in Iowa, including Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Emmet, Lyon, O’Brien, Plymouth, Sioux, and Woodbury. This program is available to survivors whose homes were majorly damaged, destroyed, or deemed not habitable in counties currently under a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration for both FEMA Individuals and Public Assistance.
For more information on the FEMA Individual Assistance Program and the Iowa Recovery Temporary Housing Program, residents can visit DisasterRecovery.iowa.gov. This announcement comes after significant damage was reported in multiple counties across Iowa due to severe weather events in June. The Governor’s Office is encouraging residents in affected areas to take advantage of these assistance programs to help with recovery efforts.
