Police React to Alleged Shooting in Proximity to Paullina, Iowa


A large police presence was observed near Paullina, Iowa early Thursday morning after a call was received by the O’Brien County communications center from an individual claiming to have shot someone and threatening further violence. Law enforcement responded to the 4500 block of Red Wood Ave, northeast of Paullina, taking precautions for nearby homes and businesses and evacuating Mill Creek campground. Residents were warned of an active situation but later notified that the area was clear.

The situation was resolved before the arrival of the HEAT team, with drone operators from various agencies locating the suspect. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Sheriff’s Offices of Sioux, Clay, and Plymouth counties, as well as local police departments, Iowa State Patrol, ATF, and others, assisted the O’Brien County Sheriff.

Despite the claims of injuries made by the caller, police have confirmed that no one was hurt during the incident. The investigation is ongoing, with no information released on any potential arrests. Copyright 2024 KTIV.
