Iowa State Fair is set to honor some celebrities in a unique way by featuring butter sculptures of famous late-night TV personalities alongside the traditional butter cow. Sarah Pratt, the butter artist from West Des Moines, has been creating the butter cow and sculptures since 2006. This year, the butter cow will be joined by representations of Johnny Carson, Steve Higgins, and Jimmy Fallon. The butter sculptures are made on a frame of wood, metal, wire, and mesh, with the cow alone weighing 600 pounds.
In addition to the butter cow and celebrity sculptures, the fair will also celebrate the 50th year of the Main Sky Glider with the inclusion of a sky glider seat. Previous companion sculptures for the butter cow have included Iowa athletes and characters from popular TV shows like “Sesame Street” and “Star Trek”.
The Iowa State Fair will take place from August 8th-18th, providing attendees the opportunity to see these unique butter sculptures up close. In addition to the fair, travelers can also explore the scenic drives in Iowa and learn interesting facts about the Quad Cities, making it a summer destination for both locals and tourists alike.
