The Iowa State Fair butter cow will not be the only star in the cooler this year as renowned butter sculptor Sarah Pratt and her apprentices, Hannah and Grace, will be creating butter sculptures of Iowans Johnny Carson and Steve Higgins, as well as a sky glider seat to commemorate the 50th year of the Main Sky Glider. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon host, Jimmy Fallon, known for his on-air impressions, will also be joining the crew in butter form.
The sculptures of Fallon, Higgins, and Carson, who has ties to Iowa as well, will be displayed alongside the iconic butter cow in the John Deere Agriculture Building during the Fair from August 8-18. Sarah Pratt, who took over as the Fair’s fifth butter sculptor in 2006, has crafted countless butter sculptures over the years, including the first Butter Cow in 1911.
This year’s butter sculptures are sure to draw crowds with their unique and iconic representations of some of Iowa’s own as well as a popular late-night TV host. The tradition of the butter cow at the Iowa State Fair continues to captivate audiences year after year, showcasing the skilled artistry of butter sculptors like Sarah Pratt and her apprentices. Visitors to the Fair will have the opportunity to see these impressive butter sculptures up close and appreciate the artistry and creativity behind them.
