Russia has added former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to its wanted list, along with other Ukrainian officials and politicians, as reported by Russian state media. Tymoshenko is facing unspecified criminal charges according to Russian news agency Tass. This move comes amidst tensions between Russia and Ukraine, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and former President Petro Poroshenko also on the list.
The list also includes officials from NATO countries, such as Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, who has advocated for increased military aid to Ukraine and stronger sanctions against Moscow. Russia has accused Kallas of attempting to remove Soviet-era monuments, which is seen as a violation of their laws criminalizing the “rehabilitation of Nazism.”
Other individuals on the list include cabinet ministers from Estonia and Lithuania, as well as the International Criminal Court prosecutor who prepared a warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin on war crimes charges. Moscow has also charged the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence with “terrorist” activities related to drone strikes on Russian infrastructure.
Tymoshenko and her political party have not commented on her inclusion on the wanted list. The situation adds to the ongoing geopolitical tensions between Russia and Ukraine, as well as their relations with NATO countries. The implications of this move on diplomatic relations and international politics remain to be seen.
