Heat advisories have been issued from New York to Charleston, with cities like Newark providing cooling centers for residents to escape the heat.
The intense heat combined with dry and windy conditions also create a critical fire risk in parts of the West, such as southern Idaho and Utah. It is important for residents to take precautions, especially for vulnerable populations like children, elderly individuals, and those working outdoors. The heatwave is expected to persist throughout the weekend and into next week, with some relief forecasted in certain areas by Sunday.
