Indiana Fever rookie and former Iowa standout Caitlin Clark has been named the 2024 Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year, winning the CWSA Honda Cup for the second consecutive year. Clark is only the fourth athlete in history to win this prestigious award more than once, joining the likes of Maya Moore, Tracy Caulkins, and Rachel Garcia.
During the award ceremony, Clark expressed her gratitude and admiration for the athletes who came before her, especially Moore, her childhood idol. While Clark was unable to attend the event, her former coaches at Iowa, Lisa Bluder and Jan Jensen, accepted the award on her behalf. The basketball star credited them and her teammates for her success, recognizing their support throughout her college career.
Among the finalists for the Honda Cup this year were gymnast Haleigh Bryant, softball player NiJaree Canady, and volleyball player Madisen Skinner. Clark congratulated them and expressed her admiration for all female athletes, emphasizing the importance of women’s sports.
Past winners of the award include swimming legend Katie Ledecky, WNBA champion Candace Parker, and Hall-of-Fame coach Dawn Staley. Clark’s back-to-back victories solidify her as one of the most outstanding collegiate athletes of her generation. Winning the CWSA Honda Cup twice is a remarkable achievement that highlights Clark’s talent and dedication to sports.
