Davenport Central softball star Bianca Shorter was voted TV6 Spotlight Athlete of the Week for her outstanding performance on the field. The super senior has been instrumental in leading her team to a resurgence this year, as they are currently at the .500 mark as the regular season comes to a close. Shorter, who will attend Indian Hills Community College to continue her softball career, reflected on her growth both mentally and physically, especially after coming back from knee surgery.
Described as a coach’s dream, Shorter is not only a hard worker on the field but also a leader for both younger and veteran players. Her dedication to the game and her mental toughness have set her apart, with her coach praising her for the impact she has had on the team. Shorter attributes her success to the support she receives from her family, friends, teammates, and the Central community.
Speaking about the recognition she has brought to Central High School through her performance, Shorter emphasized the team’s growth and determination to make a name for themselves. As the regular season wraps up, Shorter’s contributions to the team’s success have not gone unnoticed, and she remains grateful for the opportunity to represent her school on the softball field.
