San Francisco 49ers’ head coach Kyle Shanahan made a joke offering a reward to his players for provoking Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf. He showed clips of Metcalf getting frustrated before the game and promised a “Christmas present” to whoever made Metcalf “lose his mind.” During Sunday’s game, linebacker Fred Warner intercepted Seahawks quarterback Drew Lock, and Metcalf retaliated by grabbing Warner from behind and flipping him over onto the ground. Metcalf was ejected from the game, and Warner led the 49ers to a 28-16 victory. With the win, the 49ers extended their NFC West lead to four games over the Rams and the Seahawks. They have won five consecutive games and are currently holding onto the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Their remaining regular-season games are against the Cardinals, Ravens, Commanders, and Rams.
